UPDATE: Tiers of Joy

UPDATE: March 9, 2023 I've had more time to pray on it and really listen to God, and I've decided that I am not going to close Jenuine Enterprises as a whole. Instead, I am going to restructure it a bit. That being said, I am still closing the edible creations division of the business as well as customized or personalized crafts. Inventory specific to those divisions of my company will be liquidated. I am working through the new structure of the business as we speak, and I am very excited about how it is shaping up. When I have more details, I will share them. In the meantime, I have some backend work to do and a website refresh. Stay tuned! —Jen

My new favorite planner

I have searched high and low for a planner that accommodates my needs and one that I actually USE. I have tried Happy Planner and spent hundreds of dollars on all of the accessories thinking that that would make the difference. I have tried a completely digital route. I have even tried both at the same time. And none of these options were quite right. I don’t remember how it happened, but one night I stumbled upon Silk + Sonder. I was intrigued by the idea of a monthly subscription to a monthly planner (who doesn’t love getting a package in the mail these days). It was reasonably priced and looked pretty (lol), so I decided to give it a try. After using it for three weeks now, I am optimistic that this is what I have been looking for all along. It is not just a planner. Each month has a theme and guides you through affirmations, journaling, habit trackers and more. And I really like that I can only focus on one month at time.

I received my June planner yesterday and I can hardly wait to start filling it in. 😀

As promised, here are photos from the inside along with a brief caption.
If you're interested in giving it a shot, I recommend trying out the 3 month gift subscription—just gift it to yourself! Or, you could just give one month a go.

Just in case you lose your planner, it can find its way back to you. 😊

I find the index to be quite helpful considering all of the different elements of this planner.

A monthly letter from the creator of Silk + Sonder usually centered around the theme of the month.

Instructions to help guide you through the planner activities.

I find that reflecting on the previous month really helps me to set my intentions for the upcoming month.

Set your intentions for the month.

We can all use a mood tracker. 😉

Choose which habits you would like to track for the month. Some examples include exercise, meal planning, meditation and, perhaps, even using your Silk + Sonder planner. 😉

For the month of June, we are logging gratitude each day.

June's theme is "choices." Reflect on the choices you have made and how you can make better choices.

Set boundaries for yourself.

There is a second page of prompts to help you set boundaries for yourself.

Write yourself a letter.

I was SO EXCITED to see this activity for June. I am working on incorporating more self-care efforts. 💗

Each month there is a new page to color. This is a nice therapeutic exercise when you need one.

There are quotes sprinkled throughout the planner.

Track your expenses for the month. You may just be surprised to find how much you are spending and on what you are spending money.

This is the first part of the weekly planner template. Each week is highlighted in the top left corner. You can set your priorities here, including the habits/activity you would like to track for the week.

Here is the second part of the weekly planner template.

This is what the daily planning template looks like. Each day, you can note the "one thing" that you absolutely need to get done that day. I LOVE this feature. It helps me to feel accomplished even if I do not get through my entire to-do list for the day.

Halfway through the month, take a moment to note what you are currently loving, feeling, enjoying and more!

Once again, if you're interested in giving it a shot, I recommend trying out the 3 month gift subscription—just gift it to yourself! Or, you could just give one month a go.

Otis: An answered prayer

This past Friday, October 15, I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed over lunch when a post on one of the dog mom pages I follow caught my eye. It was a rehoming post for this little boy: Otis, a 1-year-old teddy bear (Shih Tzu/Bichon mix). Now, this was a type of post I had seen before, but there was something about this one that stopped me in my tracks. I just knew in my heart we had to help. I called Dan over to take a look. He had a similar reaction, which told me we were being called to do this. Even though we already had three fur babies, we were drawn to Otis. We had to know more. We had to meet him. The post specified that they wanted Otis to go to a home where he'd be the king of the house or the only pet. That didn't stop me from reaching out. I wrote from my heart and asked that they consider us even though we did not meet the criteria set forth. Imagine my excitement when I heard back from the owner! We both poured out our hearts and knew this was worth a shot
